Online game development company Playtech is celebrating after winning an SAP Litmos Award for ‘Best Culture of Learning’. SAP Litmos is a learning management system which is used by a wide range of companies all over the world, and the SAP Litmos Awards exist to recognise those users which have demonstrated genuine innovation in the way they train and educate their staff.
Why Playtech Won
Playtech won the ‘Best Culture of Learning’ Award for its refreshingly innovative approach which effectively gamifies training and development. In 2018, the company started a Playtech Academy which delivers in-house training through lectures and learning modules, and in 2019 an Academy Club was founded to gamify the development process.
Gamified Learning in a Nutshell
Gamified learning seeks to turn training and development into a kind of ‘game’ that staff members actually want to play, rather than something which they do out of a sense of duty or obligation. The Academy Club gives points to employees whenever they complete different learning modules, and this encourages staff members to complete more modules (and thereby increase their professional knowledge and experience) in order to collect more points.
Not Just for Playtech Staff
The Playtech Academy is not only for the benefit of Playtech employees, but it is also something that helps to train individuals who license Playtech products and services, and this external training will be expanded even further in the future.
‘A great deal of work and investment has gone into Playtech Academy, so it’s fantastic to see this recognised at the SAP Litmos Awards,’ said Anthony Evans, who is Vice President of Product Strategy leads on internal and external training. ‘Our mission is to deliver the most innovative products and technology; but in many ways, this is only half of the journey. By providing accessible, intuitive support and training, we can help our customers maximise the benefits of that technology and ensure the widest adoption and ongoing usage rates.’
Anthony continued: ‘2019 will see our new education portal launched to partners and customers, strengthening our culture of continuous learning and ongoing development. By combining our internal and external training into a single system via Academy, we can offer the best support and resources to our colleagues and customers alike.’
A Level Up for the Industry
It probably isn’t very surprising that a company which strives to deliver a top quality online gaming experience should also apply similar principles to the way it trains its staff and partners, and winning the SAP Litmos Award for Best Culture of Learning demonstrates that Playtech’s approach is succeeding on a grand scale. Indeed, their approach is one that could well inspire other companies to do something similar, and if that happens it will be a ‘level up’ for the industry as a whole.
