It’s hard to believe, but five years ago, the Live ‘Money Wheel’ online casino game genre wasn’t really a thing. Sure, there were regular slot games based on the Wheel of Fortune television game show and its ilk, but a human dealer standing in front of a vertical spinning wheel? That simply wasn’t done.

Dream Catcher: The Format

The Dream Catcher game revolves (if you’ll forgive the pun) around a vertically oriented wheel. This wheel has 54 brightly coloured segments. The majority of those segments show a numerical value, but two of them show a multiplier that can help to generate even bigger prizes.

Dream Catcher is designed to feel as if you’re participating in a game show, and so it’s presented in a suitably dazzling studio environment with a live host. The hosts obviously differ, depending on when and where you happen to play, but they are all enthusiastic about the game and very skilled at keeping excitement levels high throughout.

At the bottom of the screen is a panel showing six differently coloured bank notes numbered 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 40. Those colours and numbers correlate with those appearing on the Dream Catcher wheel.

Dream Catcher: How to Play

Your task is to bet on whichever colour or number you think will be declared the winner on the next spin of the wheel. Bets are placed by putting one or more casino chips on the banknote that represents your chosen outcome.

When all bets have been placed, the wheel is spun. An arrow above the wheel indicates the winning segment. When the wheel stops spinning, whatever segment is aligned with that arrow will be declared the winner. If a straightforward number segment is highlighted (1, 2, 5, 10, 20 or 40) and you have bet on that number, you will win that number multiplied by your stake.

The proportion of colours on the wheel are not equal. Instead, lower values appear more often than higher ones, as follows:

• 23 yellow segments show the number 1 and pay 1x your bet
• 15 blue segments show the number 2 and pay 2x your bet
• 7 purple segments show the number 5 and pay 5x your bet
• 4 green segments show the number 10 and pay 10x your bet
• 2 orange segments show the number 20 and pay 20x your bet
• 1 red segment shows the number 40 and pays 40x your bet

Total up the above segments, and you’ll see that there are 52 of them. The other two remaining segments are as follows:

• 1 black and silver segment shows a 2x Multiplier.
• 1 black and gold segment shows a 7x Multiplier.

When one of the 52 number segments is highlighted, bets are settled straight away. If you have bet on the winning number, you will win accordingly; otherwise, your bet will lose.

When one of the Multiplier segments is highlighted, your bet will continue to stand, and the wheel will be spun again. If your number wins, your bet will win, but it will also be enhanced by the Multiplier. For example, if you bet $1 on the number 5 and the x2 Multiplier shows, and the following spin shows the number 5, you would win $10, which is $1 x (5 x 2).

It is possible for the Dream Catcher wheel to show a Multiplier segment on two or more consecutive spins. In this case, the multiplier values would compound until a number eventually shows. If you have bet on the eventual winning number, your winnings would be enhanced by all the Multiplier values that have shown since the bet was placed.

As you can imagine, a series of Multiplier values can enhance eventual winning bets quite a bit. Get a 2x Multiplier followed by two 7x Multipliers, and the eventual winning bet would be multiplied by 98 (2 x 7 x 7). Get more Multipliers, and the eventual enhancement would be even bigger.

Dream Catcher: Strategy

Dream Catcher is a beautifully simple game, so all you need to do to enjoy it is sit down and place a bet on whichever colour or number you want to come up. Everyone who places any bet stands a chance of benefiting from any Multiplier segments that may be highlighted. This means there is no need to place a side bet of any kind to be in with a shot of landing a big win.

Of course, that doesn’t mean strategy isn’t relevant here. Because the numbers are distributed unequally on the Dream Catcher wheel, your chances of winning will be determined by the number you bet on. Your chances are as follows:

1 (yellow) = 42.59%
2 (blue) = 27.77%
5 (purple) = 12.96%
10 (green) = 7.40%
20 (orange) = 3.70%
40 (red) = 1.85%

As you can see, if you want to have the best chance of winning, you should focus on the number 1. This bet also has the lowest house edge, at 4.66%. If you want to have a chance of winning the greatest amount from a standard spin, you should bet on 40, but bear in mind you are only expected to win 1.85% of the time. Also, note that the house edge on this outcome is a much bigger 9.19%.
