Blackjack Party is a Live Casino title that was released at the end of 2014, so it isn't the newest game on the block by any means. At the time, it was a breath of fresh air and gave the traditional game of blackjack a whole new lease of life, not by updating or amending the rules in any way, but by reinventing how the game was presented to players. And as you'll see in just a moment, we're using the word presented quite deliberately.

Blackjack Party: The Format

Imagine, if you will, a game of Live Blackjack being streamed directly from a purpose-built studio. But instead of there just being a dealer at the table, there is also a presenter whose only role is to chat and bring an additional element of fun and frivolity to proceedings. That, in a nutshell, is Blackjack Party.

Because this game is meant to give you access to a party atmosphere whenever you want it, the studio isn't designed in a classic style, and the table isn't covered in green baize. Instead, the casino set is a lot more colourful and vibrant, and that includes the table covering, which is pink.

The table itself is positioned centrally, with the presenter and the dealer sitting side by side. It is common for the presenter and the dealer to be male and female or vice versa. Presumably, this is to keep players of both sexes interested and engaged, as it keeps conversation topics relevant to all.

The Blackjack Party table itself has just seven seats, and so it can only accommodate seven seated players at a time. However, a 'virtually unlimited' number of other players who are waiting at an already full table can take advantage of a clever Bet Behind feature that allows betting on any of the players already seated. We will talk more about that in the next section.

A shoe of eight decks is used in this game. The dealer must stand on both soft and hard 17s, and a Blackjack pays odds of 3 to 2. Insurance will be offered if the dealer's up-card is an Ace. You can only play one hand at a time, and splitting is allowed according to the usual rules. Resplitting is not allowed, however.

Blackjack Party: Gameplay

Playing the Blackjack Party game as a seated player is exactly the same as playing the Live Blackjack game from Evolution. You take your seat, place your bet, and the cards are dealt in the usual way. You also have the option of placing a Perfect Pairs and/or a 21+3 side bet on each hand.

Perfect Pairs is a bet that a player's first two cards will make a pair. If a pair is dealt, the nature of that pair will determine the odds paid for the Perfect Pairs bet. A pair of cards that have different suits and colours will be settled at odds of 6 to 1. A pair of cards that have the same colour but not the same suit will pay odds of 21 to 1. If you get a pair of cards with the same suit and the same colour, the side bet pays odds of 25 to 1.

21+3 is a bet that a player's first two cards and the dealer's up-card will make a three-card-poker hand. These could be a Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, Straight Flush, or a Three of a Kind of the same suit. The odds for a winning hand range from 5/1 for a Flush to 100/1 for a suited Three of a Kind.

Blackjack Party: Bet Behind Option

As stated earlier, a virtually unlimited number of players can Bet Behind even when they aren't seated at the table. You don't get to make any gaming decisions when betting behind, so you simply bet on one or more players who are already seated, and if they win their hand, you win your bet too. If a player doubles down or splits his hand, those betting behind will also have the option of doubling their bets so that they can follow the action.

While betting behind will appeal mostly to those who aren't seated at the Blackjack Party table, seated players can also Bet Behind on other seated players if they want to do so. This is a nice option to have, especially since a seated player can't play multiple hands in this game.

Blackjack Party: Atmosphere

Blackjack Party delivers all the blackjack gaming action you would expect, but the real reason to choose this game over any other Live Blackjack game is for the atmosphere. The dealer and presenter probably won't be dancing on the table at any point, but they will be engaged in fun conversations as you play. This makes Blackjack Party feel more like a social event than a traditional casino game. The blackjack is certainly there, but you're more likely to feel that you're just spending time hanging out with a couple of friends.

Of course, how much you enjoy the Blackjack Party atmosphere will depend on how much you like the dealer and the presenter, as well as the way in which they interact. Like all parties, some are better than others, and if you play Blackjack Party more than a handful of times, you'll find that your enjoyment of them varies. You'll come to have your favourite presenters and dealers, and that will make the games with those individuals more appealing to you in the future.

While on the subject of atmosphere, we should point out that some conversations can be quite adult in nature. This shouldn't be surprising, given that online casino games are strictly for adults only, but consider it a heads-up for those of you who are of a particularly sensitive disposition.
