The first fully 3D grid slot has arrived on earth thanks to Contact, which is the latest title from award-winning developer Play’n Go. Inspired by the culture of the ancient Maya civilisation, Contact will take you as close to the mysteries of the universe as any slot ever could, and in a way that fully immerses you in the experience.
Contact Looks Impressive and Sounds Great
Contact is a cascading slot game which takes place on a five-wide by seven-high grid. The grid has been designed to look like the front of an ancient structure and is filled with a total of 35 stone blocks, each bearing a symbol. The symbols used in this game are all inspired by genuine mask designs and animal drawings from the Maya civilisation, with the former being presented in bold colours and the latter being etched into the stone blocks.
The structure itself is illuminated by bowls of fire, and the dancing shadows create a suitably mysterious atmosphere which is best appreciated by maximising the game window. The audio in Contact is just as sumptuous, with an evocative soundtrack that mixes elements of traditional music with etheric new age tones. Put all of this together and Contact really does look and sound out of this world.
Gameplay and Features
The structure is marked at the second, fourth and sixth rows with x2, x3 and x4 multiplies symbols, whilst golden arrows mark the seventh row. Press the spin button and the grid will be cleared before a new batch of blocks drops down from above. Match five or more of the same symbols in a cluster and you will win a prize that is determined by the value of the symbol and the number of blocks in the winning combination.
Although getting as many winning clusters as possible is one aim of the game, another is to try and reach the top of the grid by building clusters on top of each other. This is possible because, after a win, all non-winning blocks are removed from the grid, the winning symbols drop down to the bottom and a new batch of blocks falls from above to fill the newly-created spaces.
Build clusters so that they fill rows and you will activate the multipliers indicated. Build clusters all the way to the seventh level of the temple and you will activate a Bonus Round, which gives you three free spins to begin with. Fill the entire grid with winning clusters and you will trigger a Super Bonus Round, which starts you off with six free spins. Further free spins can be activated, as can additional special symbols, which we will leave you to discover for yourself!
What the Architects Say
Play’n Go are the architects of this title, and they are rightfully pleased with having given the world the first game of its kind. ‘As the first fully 3D grid slot, Contact provides a truly immersive visual experience, to match the innovative gameplay,’ they said. ‘The 3D visuals allow us to be very creative with camera angles which gives this game an epic feel and provides a new dimension to a player’s session not yet explored in our titles!’
