Microgaming has recently entered into an exclusive supply deal with Las Vegas-based development company SpinPlay Games, and the first SpinPlay title to be released under the new deal is Roman Power. As you may well have gathered from the name, this is a slot which is based on the history and aesthetic of the Roman Empire, and we have to say that it’s an impressive debut which is already proving popular with Microgaming fans everywhere.

Driven By Math

SpinPlay Games is one of the youngest companies to partner with Microgaming, having been established less than two years ago, in February 2019. One of the things that sets this company apart from others is the fact that it was founded by mathematicians, and describes itself as ‘a math first studio’. That doesn’t mean that other aspects of online game creation take a back seat by any means, but simply highlights the fact that the development team put the mathematical model at the heart of the experience and build everything else around it.

About Roman Power

Roman Power is a five-reel slot with three rows and twenty pay lines. The action takes place within an iconic Pantheonic temple structure, whilst the background landscape shows clouds rolling ominously against a rather Roman dramatic sky. A formidable orchestral soundtrack plays throughout the game, giving the title a distinctly martial feel, and subtle sound effects serve to highlight wins and other events without taking anything away from the nicely established sense of atmosphere.

Symbols used in this game include the playing card ranks of 10, J, Q, K and A in a red and gold 3D font, crossed swords, a shield, a breastplate, a helmet and a Roman Hero wild. All of the symbols are very crisp and clear, and look just as good on the smaller screens of mobile and tablet devices as they do on full size computer monitors.

Expanding Hero Wilds

The Hero Wild symbol appears on all reels, and will appear by default in standard size format. However, it can also expand to fill the entirety of the reel on which it appears. It will only do this if a fully wild reel would help you to complete or improve a winning combination, but when it happens you will be treated to a nice action animation that somehow makes the wins even more memorable.

Power Multiplier Feature

Whenever the Hero Wild expands, you will also have a chance of triggering a Power Multiplier feature. When this is triggered, a random multiplier will be revealed, and this can be worth 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x or even x10. You will know which value has been awarded, if any, because it will be displayed in a fire bowl which is located above the third reel. Your prize will then be multiplied by the value shown.
