Prepare to Wield the Legendary Excalibur
According to legend, Excalibur was the sword of Arthur Pendragon, who is perhaps best known simply as King Arthur. It was apparently given to Arthur by the mysterious Lady of the Lake, although some tales equate Excalibur with the ‘sword in the stone’ which Arthur successfully extracted to prove his right to the throne. Whatever the case, Excalibur is probably one of the most famous swords of all time, and in the new Legendary Excalibur slot from Red Tiger Gaming, it is one that could help you to land a big win or two.
Expect a Magical Time
Legendary Excalibur is a five-reel slot with ten pay lines which pay both ways. The game takes place in a superbly depicted area which we assume to be somewhere in the grounds of Arthur’s castle, Camelot. It is dark, thanks in part to the dense forest that surrounds the gaming area, but shafts of light provide some illumination, and there is a distinct feeling of magic in the air.
The lower-value symbols on the reels are the playing card ranks of 10, J, Q, K and A, and for once those standard symbols actually make sense, given the royal nature of the game. Higher-value symbols are an English rose, the helmet of a knight, a chalice (perhaps the Holy Grail itself?) and King Arthur. The game also has a stacked Excalibur wild, as well as a standard wild that appears in the Wild Respin feature only.
The visuals do a perfectly good job of creating an authentic atmosphere, but the soundtrack has a wonderfully noble tone that helps to make things even more immersive. Audio effects have a magical quality about them, giving wins and other important events a rather epic touch, and if you find yourself feeling a tad underdressed whilst playing without a crown on your head, you won’t be the first.
Wild Respin Feature
There is only one special feature in this game, but it is a fairly good one. The Wild Respin feature is triggered by getting the stacked Excalibur wild symbol in full view, and when you manage to do that you will be given a respin.
Actually, it’s not quite a respin in the traditional sense. What happens is that the stacked Excalibur wild remains in place, and then the remaining reels are superimposed with reels containing nothing but empty cells and standard wild symbols. When the reels come to rest, the empty cells disappear to reveal the original symbols underneath, and the standard wild symbols which remain will hopefully help you to win.
Although one wild respin might not sound like much of a feature, when you consider the fact that this is a game which pays both ways, the additional wilds can be extremely helpful. Also bear in mind that the stacked Excalibur wild will nudge up or down to dominate its reel every time it appears even partially, so you can probably expect to trigger this feature not just once but several times in the course of an average gaming session.
