Aladdin and the Sorcerer is the latest game to be released from Pragmatic Play, and gives online casino players yet another slot based on the much-loved Arabic tale which is commonly known as Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. What sets this game apart from other Aladdin-inspired titles is that it focuses on Aladdin’s battle with the selfish Sorcerer, and here that battle is portrayed quite literally as a magical showdown between the two.

Aladdin’s Story in a Nutshell

For the benefit of anyone who is unfamiliar with the traditional story, it tells of a young man called Aladdin who is persuaded by a sorcerer to enter a cave in order to retrieve a powerful magic lamp. The sorcerer tries to trap Aladdin in the cave, but the young man escapes and accidentally releases a genie from the lamp, which he takes with him.

The genie is grateful for being released, and helps Aladdin to achieve everything he ever wanted. News of Aladdin’s great success spreads far and wide, and when the sorcerer hears of it, he sets out to get the lamp for himself. The story ends with a battle between Aladdin and the sorcerer, and the bad guy loses, leaving Aladdin to live the rest of his life in peace and happiness.

Aladdin and the Sorcerer

This is a gorgeous five-reel game with three rows, and the action takes place against a background depicting the land in which the traditional tale takes place. The reels themselves are transparent, and that makes it easy to enjoy this background, as well as giving the sense that the symbols are levitating in the air, which is the kind of thing you would expect in a magical environment.

The symbols used in this slot are a variety of gems, with lower-value gems being circular, triangular, diamond, square and hexagonal in shape. The same gems framed in gold serve as the higher-value symbols, and a framed WILD symbol appears on the second, third and fourth reels. An Aladdin bonus symbol appears on the first reel and a Sorcerer bonus symbol appears on the fifth reel, and both of those symbols also serve as wilds.

All of the visuals are presented in the style of a detailed graphic novel, and animation is employed very well to bring the adventure to life. Aladdin levitates to the left of the first reel, armed with his magic lamp, whilst the Sorcerer levitates to the right of the fifth reel wielding a blue orb of energy. A rich orchestral soundtrack gives the whole game a rather epic feel, and a variety of magical sound effects are used to accompany the action that unfolds as you play.

Aladdin vs Sorcerer Feature

When you get the Aladdin bonus symbol on the first reel without the Sorcerer on the fifth reel, anything from three to six wild symbols will be randomly added to the reels. The same thing also happens when you get the Sorcerer on the fifth reel without Aladdin on the first reel.

Things get really interesting when you get both Aladdin and the Sorcerer on the screen at the same time. When than happens, the first and fifth reels will both become stacked with wild symbols and you will trigger the Respin Feature, which is described below.

Respin Feature

In this part of the game, a battle will take place between Aladdin on the left and the Sorcerer on the right. Each of these characters begin with three health bars and the reels will start to respin until one of the characters has lost all of their health bars.

For Aladdin to lose a health bar, a Sorcerer symbol must appear on the fifth reel without an Aladdin symbol appearing on the first. For the Sorcerer to lose a health bar, the Aladdin symbol must appear on the first reel without the Sorcerer appearing on the fifth.

If the Sorcerer manages to get rid of all of Aladdin’s health bars, the feature ends. If, however, Aladdin defeats the Sorcerer, the feature progresses to another level. Here you will get three respins where all wild symbols stick. Wilds have a x2 multiplier value for the second respin and a x3 multiplier value for the third respin. Multipliers on the same pay line are added together.
