Grid slots are nothing new, but Honey Rush from Play’n GO breaks new ground by featuring a hexagonal grid inspired by honeycombs. This high-volatility slot is ideal for anyone who wants to add a bit of sunshine and sweetness to their day, and is simple and straightforward enough to be played by anyone, even those who only have a few minutes to spare. At the same time, a clever Rush Meter mechanic gives access to several features for those who have time to play for longer periods.
The Honey Rush Format
Each side of the hexagonal grid is four symbols wide, so there are 37 symbols showing on screen at any given time. The game revolves around bees collecting honey, and the symbols reflect that in the form of four different kinds of flower, three different coins (bronze, silver and gold), a blue diamond and honey jar wilds.
Honey Rush takes place against the backdrop of an idyllic meadow, and the visuals have a cartoon-style quality which perfectly fits its light-hearted theme. A relaxing soundtrack accompanies your play, and the sound effects are the kind that you might expect to hear in a symbol-matching app game on your smartphone.
Because this is a hexagonal grid slot, there are no pay lines as such, and you win by getting clusters of five or more adjacent symbols. When a winning cluster is achieved, the symbols involved in that cluster are removed from the grid and new symbols drop down to fill up the spaces.
Rush Meter and Colony Features
To the side of the main grid is a Rush Meter which has four levels. Every time you achieve a win, the Rush Meter will increase by the number of symbols involved in that win. Each level reached will activate a Colony feature. The first three levels will activate a Drone Colony feature whilst the fourth level will activate a Queen Colony feature.
Levels 1, 2 and 3 are reached by collecting 20, 40 or 80 winning symbols in the Rush Meter, and will activate the Drone Colony and add one sticky honey pot wild to the reels.
Level 4 is reached by collecting 160 winning symbols and will activate the Queen Colony.
A Colony feature which is activated will be triggered when you fail to achieve a win, and when that happens the symbol in the very centre of the grid will be cloned to create a cluster. A Drone cluster will comprise at least 7 symbols, a Worker cluster will comprise at least 7 to 15 symbols, and a Queen cluster will comprise at least 20 to 37 symbols.
When sticky wild symbols are added to the reels, they will shift to a nearby empty position after every win and stick in place to give you another chance of winning. It is possible to enjoy lengthy sequences of wins with these sticky wilds, so keep your fingers crossed and you just might discover that for yourself!
A Unique Shape and An Engaging Format
‘Honey Rush is a prime example of what we are capable of, and the type of high-quality entertainment people have come to expect from Play’n GO, and we always deliver,’ said Johan Törnqvist, who is CEO at the company. ‘It has a unique shape, an engaging format, and most of all is a lot of fun to play. People are going to be enjoying this game for a very long time!
‘But we’re still not finished with this year yet,’ he continued. ‘We have more exciting titles coming between now and the close of 2019, and then we move straight into 2020, to carry on the success.’
