When you have placed your ante bet, five cards will be dealt you and five to the dealer. The cards will be dealt face-down, but the dealer will then turn their first card over so that you can see what it is. Your next task is to decide – based on your own cards and the one that the dealer has – whether you want to play your hand or fold. If you fold then you are basically admitting defeat straight away, and you will forfeit your ante and any side bets that you have placed.

If you choose to play then you must add a call bet which is worth two times your ante. The dealer will then turn over their remaining cards so that you can see where you stand. The dealer can only play their hand if it contains both an Ace and a King, so if that is not the case your main bet will be returned and your ante will be paid back with an equal sum of winnings.

If the dealer’s hand has a King and an Ace then it will be compared with yours and the strongest hand will win. If the dealer’s hand is the strongest according to normal poker rules then you lose, but if your hand is the stronger one, you win. In that event, your ante bet will be paid at flat odds of 1:1 and your call bet will be paid according to the strength of your hand, from 1:1 for a High Card to as much as 100:1 for a Royal Flush.

If you have placed a 5+1 Bonus or Jackpot bet then you may also win additional sums. The 5+1 Bonus pays 7:1 for Three of a Kind, all the way up to 1000:1 for a Royal Flush, whilst the Jackpot bet pays fixed prizes of between x3 for Three of a Kind up to the jackpot for a Royal Flush.
